From silos to synergies

How mosaixx achieves the breakthrough for optimal collaboration in mechanical engineering

Mechanical engineering is cross-departmental teamwork – from development and production to purchasing and sales. In theory, it sounds simple: everyone contributes their expertise, processes run hand in hand and the end result is a coordinated outcome.

In practice, things often look different. The more complex the production and the more departments, partners, external parties and suppliers are involved, the more difficult coordination becomes. Coordination would require a software solution that is as integrated as possible, which also links distributed teams and provides all the necessary information and up-to-date data.

However, everyday life in factories and offices is often far removed from this ideal. Without an end-to-end digital infrastructure, there is a lack of transparency as to who is working on what, which data is up-to-date and where bottlenecks are hidden. Agreements are made via countless emails, versions of design plans exist in duplicate and important information is lost between Excel spreadsheets and PDFs.

This digital imbalance not only slows down the efficiency and innovative strength of mechanical engineers, but also costs time and money as a consequence. With the knowledge of these very practical problems, mosaixx has designed the cloud platform of the same name. A central component of this is the hybrid approach to data management.

A new home for data

The idea behind it is as simple as it is necessary: Companies can use mosaixx to manage the data generated on the platform itself, but also integrate external data sources into their workflows thanks to the open architecture. The result is not only a 360-degree view of all project-related information in one central location, but also its much-needed availability for all stakeholders and maximum transparency. This benefits not only engineers, integrators and project managers, but all areas of the company – including sales, purchasing and marketing.

Has a feasibility study already been carried out by another team? Were there any changes to the basic mechanical concept after the handover? Did the sales team implement any adjustments and customer requests to the control component or the quotation layout? What used to end in a back and forth of emails and phone calls, or was simply not communicated in time, is no longer a challenge with a standardized cloud platform. This not only pleases the relieved employees, but also provides a much-needed boost to efficiency along the entire value chain.

To this end, mosaixx acts as a real-time database that uses alerts to inform about changes, new documents or approvals. In this way, teams and departments can even work independently of location – the platform connects everyone involved and ensures that no documents or information simply fall through the cracks.

Companies that are still at the beginning of their digital transformation, in particular, have a single source of truth for the first time, can plan projects with clear dashboards, work together on the latest versions, add external people and orchestrate data centrally. This collaborative approach is nothing less than the future of mechanical engineering.
